Mark Bara comes from a polygamous family. Mark Bara’s story started on the day he was born, 15 Dec 1984. He grew up in Kumba and attended government Bilingual Primary School Kosala. He later gained admission in to Saint Joseph’s College Sasse.
Mark Bareta (as he is now well known) was reserved and humble to the extent that he earned the name Father Mark amongst his mates, and was considered by some to be a good student. In 2004 Mark Bareta gained admission in to the University of Buea (UB), under the faculty of science.
2. The student Strike.. Students were killed.
[dropcap style=’box’]M[/dropcap]ark Bareta became very active and vocal in the affairs of The University of Buea students Union (UBSU). On 20 April 2005, Mark Bareta and some other students spearheaded a strike in the University of Buea in which two students lost their lives; namely Embwam Aloysius a final year student in environmental science and Gilbert Nforlem a Master degree student.
The student strike which was non-violent gradually turned violent as Mark Bareta and his UBSU boys burned town vehicles of lectures in front of the central Administration.
3. Unprofessional Cameroon uniformed men
[dropcap style=’box’]T[/dropcap]he administration reacted by calling the Cameroon police. As can be expected, these uniformed people in Cameroon are poorly educated, poorly trained, and poorly equipped, and use excessive violence to solve every problem.
The very unprofessional forces of “Law and order” who had a responsibility to deescalate the problem, they instead caused the loss of lives of two students, many more got injured, some were jailed and others went on self-exile to Nigeria.
4. Mark Bareta accused of stealing 20 Million Frs at UB
[dropcap style=’box’]D[/dropcap]uring the 2005/2006 academic year, Mark Bareta was elected as the chief of the Financial Bench of UBSU. Shortly after, Mark Bareta and his close collaborators were accused of stealing or syphoning the sum of 20 million Frs CFA from the coffers of the Student Union. John Arrey then blow the whistle to the central administration. Two weeks later he was Poison in “Da crown ” snack bar.
The Vice chancellor reacted to John Arrey allegations by asking for an investigation. Mark Bareta and his gang reacted by threatening the Vice Chancellor and held him hostage in his office by Mark Bareta and his UBSU gang.
It was well known that during Mark Bareta’s time at UB, Dr Asibong Patrick became his strong ally, informant and coach. Dr Asibong was later dismissed from the University for alleged sexual misconduct towards the female students.
5. Bareta’s campaign to be UBSU fails. He results to violence
[dropcap style=’box’]B[/dropcap]etween the 2007/2008 year, Mark Bareta campaigned to become the president of UBSU, but was disqualified on the bases of academic short comings. His party later replaced him with a different candidate who failed to win the hearts of the majority of students and subsequently lost the elections. The New UBSU president was tagged by Mark and his Cohorts as “Pro-Administration”.
The new president was later attacked by armed Men at night in front of Fotabe house, lucky enough he escaped, with all fingers pointing at Mark Bareta and his gang. As if that was not enough, they later attacked him on campus and this time around, the president of the student union had to rally students and brief them on what was going on. From that day The UBSU president had to walk around town and on campus with body guards for fear of attacks by Mark Bareta and his gang.
6. Bareta – After University of Buea
[dropcap style=’box’]A[/dropcap]fter causing so much chaos on campus, and over staying his study of BSc from 2004 to 2008, the university Senate Unanimously decided to graduate him even though he was still owing 4 of his major courses. According to the prerequisite for a student to graduate he/she had to validate all their major courses.
Many of his classmates later joked that Bareta’s BSc degree from Buea is not different from those fabricated in Kumba. After graduating, he remained in Molyko and was doing his teaching job in Muea. It is well known that Breta continued to incite violence on campus and was arrested on several occasions.
In 2009 Mark Bareta then got Bessem Nancy Tabi pregnant. He was not happy with the pregnancy. Bareta convinced her to abort the baby and in the process, she DIED.
Bareta later travelled to Belgium and with the help of Atanga Marcelius, he got introduced to the Ambazonia Belgian wing. Which he then used to seek his political asylum.
