Known as someone who was generally very quiet and his moves not easily traceable, his actions left many to wonder the kind of man Weapon was. Instead of using bikes as the traditional kidnapping tool, he opted for a jeep along with his second in command, Jason.
The attack earlier in the year 2024 that led to the robbery of Awing Cooperative Credit was orchestrated with the same jeep.
Workers were kidnapped for days and financial transactions were paralyzed. Another Non-governmental organization, has its Hilux vehicle seized from them at gunpoint at Fon’s street in Bamenda. Several attacks on business places, threats to pay Amba imposed liberation taxes, the inability to circulate freely in Bamenda with luxurious cars, and the frequent gunshots recorded in Bamenda of recent have been tagged to his name.
Others are reacting that their pious hope is for the incessant burning of taxis that have been the order of the day to stop. The most heinous crime that is associated with Weapon and Jason is the killing of the Second Deputy Mayor of Bamenda II. Reactions the Observer has gathered attest that the deceased Mayor was kidnapped with the Prado Jeep and later killed on October 27th October 2024.
The Observer can confirm that before the killing of General Weapon, one of his associates who was involved in the killing of the Deputy Mayor was arrested in early November and has undergone three weeks of serious interrogation from the Defense and security forces.
The population of Mbengwi cannot access their homeland through Alabukam for over a year now. The road has been blocked and people are forced to pass through Bali to reach Bamenda. The distance from Mbengwi to Bamenda is less than an hour but commuters now need to go through Bali wasting more time and incurring additional cost.
Those who intend to use the road through Alabukam, meet a very stiff control post with armed men mostly smoking marijuana.
Read the headlines, and the content to see that the amba terrorists cannot hide the truth anymore.. They are Kidnapping terrorists.
The Guardian Post Daily Newspaper reported on the Front page and Page 3 on ISSUE 3302 as follows.
Amba ‘General’, four fighters behind burning of taxis in Bamenda killed.
Soldiers have killed the dreaded self-styled separatist warlord, General Weapon and four of his fighters. The Amba kingpin was wasted by soldiers in Bamenda, Sunday November 24, 2024.
The Amba fighters who have been wreaking havoc in Bamenda and causing untold pain on locals, met their end during an operation carried out by soldiers. The operation was carried out at the Alabukam neighbourhood, on the outskirts of Bamenda.
Described by many as one of the fiercest Amba commanders, ‘General’ Weapon is said to have been behind many kidnappings for ransom carried out by separatist fighters.
‘General’ Weapon and his gang are also said to have carried out count-less killings, attacks and roadblocks. He is said to be the architect of the devilish move by separatist fighters to burn taxis in Bamenda that are not painted in Amba colours of blue and white.
As reported by online news site, Observer237, ‘General’ Weapon’s most recent barbaric act was the kid-napping and killing of the Second Deputy Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Joko Frida. The horrific act was carried out in October 2024.
The municipal authority was kidnapped and later killed for participating in the public screening of the documentary film on the legacy of President Paul Biya.
The Amba warlord is also noted to have been the brain behind the attack and kidnapping of workers of the Awing Cooperative Credit Union early this year. The Guardian Post gathered that the population was in total ecstasy following news of his killing by soldiers.
Locals are quoted as having rejoiced as the neutralised Amba war-lord was more of a threat to many business owners and of recent, the main brain behind the burning of taxis in Bamenda.
The Guardian Post also learned that before the killing of the Amba General’, one of his fighters was arrested by security forces. It is alleged the arrested fighter helped the soldiers to trace the whereabouts of their leader and other colleagues.
During the operation, several vehicles were recovered, including that of the late Bamenda II Deputy Mayor, Joko Frida, a jeep belonging to a Pastor, and a Hilux belonging to a popular nonprofit organisation.
Recent cases of kidnapping in #Bamenda by Amba fighters have been carried out with the use of cars.
