WHY DOES CAMEROON CELEBRATE YOUTH DAY 11 FEB EVERY YEAR?
11 Feb 1961 is the day Southern Cameroons VOTED Massively (70%) to join The Republic of Cameroun. In 1964, the Prime Minister of West Cameroon, John Ngu Foncha dedicated the 11 February every year to the youths and called it a Youth Day that would be celebrated across West Cameroon. In 1966, President Ahidjo embraced the decision and made the celebrations to be NATIONAL in honour of Southern Cameroon’s decision to vote for “Independence and Reunification”
