The Divisional Officer (D.O) of Idabado, kidnapped on 01 Oct 2024, and held in Nigeria for nearly six months, was released 17 March 2025. He was picked up at the border off Jabane around 6:30 PM by the Cameroon Military. He received immediate medical treatment from the head doctor at the BIR Delta infirmary.
The Nigerian criminals demanded over $1 Million USD Ransoms.

Overall, he is in good health despite significant weight loss and slightly elevated blood pressure due to the stress he has endured in the last 5.5 months.
He indicates that his captors are members of Pirate networks gathered within a criminal organization led by an individual calling himself “pa’a Wata” (the father of water). These criminals based in Nigeria, in the swampy area opposite Kombo Abedimo, are said to be structured into nine groups that operate autonomously and in a coordinated manner.
The criminals attack commercial vessels in the cross-border area, to orchestrate extortion in fisheries where locals are forced to pay ransoms for their freedom. The criminals are involved in stealing and plunder in these same areas, not to mention negotiating ransoms in exchange for the release of a hostage. They primarily target administrative authorities, wealthy merchants, and members of the Security and Defence Forces of both countries.
At the request of the Governor of the S.W, he will be transferred first thing in the morning by our patrols to the BIR base in Idenau on 18 Mar 2025.
During his captivity, he was tortured and a video of his torture sent to his family members to pressure them to pay the Huge Ransoms that was demanded. Some of the Ransom was paid before he was released.
#MKPD has published below the Ransom demand Audios and Torture Videos. Over 16.5 Million Frs CFA ($27,000 USD) Ransom was paid for his freedom.
