MKPD> Bad, Terrible, BAD news coming from Momo, North West region of Cameroon.
The Enu Richard family is in TERRIBLE pain beyond belief. Mr Enu passed away of natural causes some days back. His remains were put in the mortuary in Bamenda.
Today Saturday 02 Feb 2019, the Enu family had arranged to take his corpse home for burial.. BUT something TERRIBLE happened on the way..
From what I understand, Mr Enu was the first principal of Government Secondary School (GSS) Eka. Eka is a small forested village under Widikum Sub Division. Mr Enu’s remains were being transport to Eka for final rest. This on it’s own would have been the most traumatising day in the whole family.
Just after the convoy passed Batibo, the convoy was stopped by a group of armed terrorists in the name of Amba boys. These boys seemed to know the deceased, and had an understanding of the funeral arrangement. This seemed like a planned attack.
The Amba boys asked for other people who were not part of the funeral to continue with their journey, while the convoy carrying the corpse was detained for whatever reason.
The Cameroon military appeared from nowhere.. and a gunfight ensued. In the chaos, three (3) people were shot. Mr Enu’s wife and daughter were pronounced DEAD on the scene. Mr Enu’s son was also shot, and was taken to a hospital in Batibo where he is fighting for his life.
Mr Enu’s corpse, and that of his wife, and his daughter, were transported back to Bamenda General Hospital Mortuary.
At the time of compiling this report, I cannot confirm who shot the victims. Whatever the case, this is a TRAGIC story coming from Momo.
My heartfelt condolences go to the Enu Family. Please find it in your hearts to assist them in this time of terrible pain
