Cameroon: the UN Security Council is not meeting on 13 May

Contrary to information recently propagated online, there will be an informal meeting at the United Nations to discuss the humanitarian crisis in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

The United States called the meeting and has the duty of convincing members of the security council to attend, *it is not mandatory*.

This informal meeting is known within UN circles as the ‘Arria formula’, where a member of the Security Council will persuade fellow members to meet informally and discuss an issue, hoping to convince them for a hearing of the matter at the Security Council.

The US has felt the need to convince members of the security council to discuss the Cameroon situation and is using this formula as a resort.

Unlike Security Council meetings which take place at Council Chambers, this one will hold at the Delegates’ Conference Room.
Also, this informal meeting is not enshrined in the UN Charter or the standing orders of the council.

Moreover, Indonesia, holding the current Presidency of the Security Council has said the country is not interested in the meeting. Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea, representatives of the African continent at the Security Council have also said they will not take part in the meeting. The concerned, Cameroon, has refused it will participate in the ‘Arria formula’.
Furthermore, staff of the UN secretariat do not take part in such a meeting. Discussions do not feature in UN books but are sometimes mediatized.

This kind of meeting was named after the Venezuela Ambassador to the UN, Diego Arria (1992 to 1993). He was then President of the Security Council and called the meeting on the situation of former Yugoslavia. Members of the council at a tea table listened to the eye witness account of a Bosnian priest.

Observers say the Cameroonian government is fighting secession attempts in the NW/SW. The situation is a strictly internal matter which poses no threat to regional or international Security. There’s thus absolutely no reason for the Security Council to get involved.

The US is only worried that China and Russia are closer to Yaounde. The trump administration wants to use the Security Council to force their destabilisation plan on Cameroon. Therefore, Washington is not seeking the interest of refugees and internally displaced persons. Tibor Nagy, the under Secretary for Africa in the Trump administration, had earlier said their eyes are on Cameroon after Sudan.

Between 1861 and 1865, the US fought the bloodiest war against the 11 secessionist southern federated states to keep the territorial integrity of the US. Though the US does not currently support secessionist movements in Spain, France and UK, it is, however, hosting numerous Cameroonians funding the conflict in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon on its soil.

Ambazonia angry because everyone keeps ignoring them..

#MKPD Mark Bareta and all Ambazonians are not happy at all. 😂 They keep getting ignored, by the African Union, the European Union, the UN, infact.. Even Saharawi is ignoring them these days.

Since they declared independence 😂, many years has it been? Ambazonia hasn’t got ONE international country supporting them. Not one international organisation supports them. They don’t control one inch of territory on the ground.

They have been crying genocide for over a year, and no one in the international community cares about their plea because they are terrorists, carrying guns and beheading people.

This is pure #ComedyRevolution

Mbororo people to meet UN Chief to discuss Ambazonia Terrorism

Representatives of Mbororo pastoralists will be meeting Michelle Bachelet to present evidence of xenophobic materials, killings, torture, kidnappings, ransom collection and cattle theft by Ambazonia militias.

The meeting will take place during her ongoing visit to Cameroon. Ahead of the meeting a Mbororo activist was today able to show her a recent video of Issa Adamu who was tortured by Ambazonia militias in Bamenda to death. (See Video below) She was shocked and has asked for all evidence to be submitted.

The meeting follows two weeks of advocacy by 5 Mbororo representatives at UN headquarters on same issues.

Other represenatives will be in Brussels this weekend to further expose the exactions by the armed separatist groups on cattle herders in NW/SW Cameroon.

The Mbororo advocacy follows months of killings, torture and ransom collection and the failure of Ambazonia leaders to stop the abuses.

On the recent briefing of the United Nations Security Council..

On the recent briefing of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) by the Special Representative of the SG on Central Africa. We have seen some try to twist and tweak the statements of UNSC members to continue brainwashing and giving hope to their followers.

Yes, the international community is not blind to the events in Cameroon, however, beware not to fall for another lie namely that this is a turning point to achieving Ambazonia independence or any kind of international intervention.

By now you should know the UN does not give judgment or pass resolutions to divide a sovereign country. And as Ambazonian self-proclaimed generals continue to die like flies, you should now know they are no match to the Cameroon military, and that Odeshi is the biggest foolery of the century.

Ma kontri pipo dem.. independence is a dream that will never happen. Your so called Ambazonia leaders will not tell you what it takes to get international military intervention. Just ask yourselves why for 7 years since the beginning of the war in Syria the UNSC has not voted any substantial resolution to condemn the atrocities. Debate or briefing of the UNSC is one thing, adopting a meaningful resolution is another.

Aside from the fact that legal grounds for any external intervention are not met in Cameroon, the UNSC is also a political club. Do not underestimate Cameroon’s strength in the current geopolitical dispensation. Be wise and make the right choices.

DROP YOUR WEAPONS!

Here are seven points to take home from the briefing:

1. The International community is paying attention to the atrocities and at the appropriate time people will answer for their crimes;
2. Cameroon is a sovereign country and Ambazonia is not recognised by ANY sovereign nation;
3. The US and Cameroon are allies in the fight against terrorism and that wouldn’t end any time soon;
4. The Ambazonia project is still a pipe dream and has made no progress whatsoever;
5. The US and UK support a decentralised unitary state which is the same position of the Cameroon government. What has Ambazonia achieved apart from succeeding in radicalising our youths?
6. The International community supports the work of the Commission on Bilingualism and Multiculturalism which Ambazonians reject;
7. The US supports the creation of the humanitarian assistance coordination center;
8. The international community supports the disarmament commission.

The fact that the measures taken by the Cameroon government has been greeted by the international community puts the Ambazonia ideology in a very bad place!

DON’T BE FOOLED!

Comment From a reader..

Dear Amba Vs LRC, I could add a 9th Point: The International Community ( especially the USA, France, UK, China, Nigera etc) shall never accept any alterations to the geo-strategic balance in the Gulf of Guinea through the creation of what is increasingly looking as a future failed, chaotic and disorderly “Republic of Ambazonia”, which could serve as breeding ground and launch pad for terrorism and piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. With all the problems in the Middle East, world powers (notably the US, the UK and France) are shifting their focus to the Gulf of Guinea as an alternative to Middle Eastern oil and LNG. The Cameroon government thus far has given them sufficient guarantees and favourable deals for oil and gas exploration and exploitation. So they don’t need a contraption called “Ambazonia”. Of course they shall make the usual noises about respecting human rights and calling for dialogue, but as long as their investments are save in Paul Biya’s hands( as it seems to) that is all what its gonna be. And Sir, thank you for the good work you do educating and sensitising our people.
